Easy Vegan Banana Bread on a chopping board with a banana by the side

Recently I noticed egg allergies are on the rise among my family and friends with my brother declaring that he is actually considering going vegan. I have also been receiving requests for vegan recipes or questions on how to veganize a recipe.

Since I love trying out recipes and creating delicious recipes so I took up the challenge to include vegan recipes on the blog. Not just any vegan recipe but vegan recipes that can stand up to any other non vegan recipe. So here we are with this Easy Vegan Banana Bread.

How to make Vegan Banana Bread.

I adapted my banana bread recipe to make this super moist vegan banana bread. You won’t believe there are no eggs in this recipe. Thanks to the effect of flax eggs a great egg substitute. The mashed bananas also help to keep the bread moist. Make sure to use very ripe bananas for this recipe.

For this recipe you need one bowl, 3 very ripe bananas, flax eggs, canola oil or coconut oil ( you can use vegan butter ) brown sugar or white sugar and all purpose flour.

FAQs on Vegan Banana Bread

Q. What makes this banana bread Vegan?

A. This banana bread has no eggs and no animal product in it.

Q. What can I substitute flax eggs with?

A. You can substitute flax eggs with chia eggs ( made from chia seeds )

Q. Can banana bread be made into muffins?

A. You can easily make these into muffins by baking the batter in your good old muffin tins. Remember to adjust baking time downwards 👍

Q. Can banana bread be made Keto?

A. Because of the high carb and content of natural sugars in bananas, banana bread made with bananas can’t be keto but I have a great low carb banana bread ( not vegan ) made which is ridiculously low in carbs compared with this recipe.

Q. Is banana bread healthy?

A. That depends on your idea of healthy. Banana bread is assumed to be healthy because it contains a fruit. But the high sugar content may lead one to think otherwise. Banana Bread is a treat and Like any other treat, I would eat these in moderation. Even though banana bread is so good I find it hard to stick to moderation. You are not alone my friend. 😀

Q. Can I make make banana bread without Sugar?

A. Yes you can. Swap out the sugar in this recipe with a good sweetener like erythritol or xylitol but be aware that these sweeteners usually have a cooling effect on the tongue. Makes the baked goods taste ‘coldish’ but still perfectly yummy 😋

Q. Can I bake banana bread without oil?

A. I haven’t tried it yet but I know bananas are usually used as a substitute for oil in some recipes. This recipe already has bananas so I would assume leaving the oil out would be fine.

Q. When is banana bread done?

A. Because of the moisture in banana bread, it takes a longer time to cook through than a cake baked in the same tin. Banana bread takes up to 50 mins to cook at a temp of 350 F. When it’s done. The middle would be firm and an inserted kebab stick or knife will come out clean.

Q. How to store banana bread?

A. Wrap in a cling wrap or foil to prevent it from drying out Properly stored banana bread can stay at room temperature for up to 2 days or up to a week in the refrigerator or frozen for up to 3 months.
