Did you know that making homemade oat flour is easier than a walk in the park? I love making my own flours if I can help it. That way I can be in control of what goes into my flour. This oat flour is so easy to make and takes little time. All you need is your food processor or spice blender and your traditional/ old fashioned oats of course.

I prefer the traditional/ old fashion oats because it is less processed than the quick oats. For a long while oats have been the swallow food that accompany our various African soups in my home and the main reason for this is its high FIBER content.
For someone like me this is a HUGE reason to make that switch. I suffer constipation more often than not and since I discovered oats help me go so easily I never looked back. But now that I am on a low carb diet by choice, oats isn’t allowed so I add a little Psyllium husks to my veggies to make my low carb swallow and this is awesome to prevent constipation if you are on a low carb diet.

I like to make a large batch and store since it will save me even more time. Once you have your homemade oat flour on hand, converting it to swallow will just be a walk in the park. Just add water.
I don’t blend the oats till smooth because I prefer a coarse texture and here is the reason why… when it’s coarsely blended, it simulates garri’s rough texture and because when it is coarsely blended it makes for a nice textured breakfast porridge. Feel free to blend yours smooth if that’s your preference. Let’s get out the blender and get started.
Have you tried making your own flours at home? Which flours did you try? I would love to know… Drop your comments below please.
Till next time …
