Watermelon slushy is super easy to make at home and is something fun to do with the kiddos. It’s delicious and healthy and very refreshing too.
For the past couple of days, the heat has been out of this world. Talk about temp in the 90 degrees range. Omg ? This watermelon slushy is a great way to keep cool and hydrated. This is another way to use up your huge water melon phew ?
When I buy such a huge Watermelon, which I inevitably always do since that’s what I usually find in the store, here’s what I do. I divide it into quarters that’s four parts and I make a variety of watermelon treats with each quarter in the bid to keep my kiddos interested in this watermelon business lol

How to make Watermelon Slushy
Because of its high water content, Watermelon is the perfect fruit to make a slushy. All you need to do is cut up your watermelon and freeze till rock solid ( takes up to 6 hrs though I prefer to leave it overnight)
The next morning you blitz the frozen watermelon in your blender with some cold water or cold sparkling water ( carbonated water)
Addition of sugar or a sugar substitute is optional but recommended if you want the kiddos to join you or if you want to have a sweet frozen treat. C’mon who doesn’t like some sweetness once in a while. My sweetener of choice here is usually honey or erythritol
In most slushy recipes I have seen, ice cubes are crushed either with some Kool Aid mix or a carbonated drink. The frozen watermelon used in this watermelon slushy recipe acts as the ice cubes while the carbonated water acts as the carbonated drink.
